Village of Care Press partners with care-centered leaders and healers to bring their wisdom into book form—thoughtfully, strategically, and rooted in service.
Our Belief
The mission of Village of Care Press is expressed in the Hebrew phrase “tikkun olam,” world repair. We believe that we can heal the world by putting the right books in the hands of the right people at the right time. Those who tend to the well-being of others deserve care as well.
We publish books that support healing and resilience, personal growth and spirituality, and holistic well-being. Our authors include coaches and workshop/retreat leaders, clergy and chaplains, holistic healers, and thoughtful practitioners who carry a healing message they feel called to bring into the world.
We believe healing is not about fixing what is broken. It is about tending what is human—gently, honestly, and without pressure. Our work is rooted in the understanding that becoming—as a leader, a healer, or an author—is a lifelong, reflective process. Created with care and integrity, books can become quiet companions for others standing at their own thresholds of courage, hope, and inner peace.
Two new imprints launching in 2026 support aligned work consistent with the needs of new clients. Red Tent Press published stories by women for women. Council House Press publishes leadership books written by conscious, compassionate transformational leaders.
Our Approach
We see a book as a form of service—a vessel for clarity, trust, and impact in families, communities, organizations, and the wider world. For our authors, writing a book is not about self-promotion; it is about articulation—giving shape to lived experience and wisdom in a way that others can genuinely receive. We support you in clarifying what you want to say, why it matters, and who you are writing for. Many of our authors do not identify as businesspeople and have no desire to become influencers. What they do share is a deep commitment to quality, depth, and integrity—because their books become part of how others come to know them, trust them, and engage with their work.
Through our publishing services and workshops, we help authors create books that are thoughtful, grounded, and well-positioned. . . . books that quietly open doors to clearer messaging, more meaningful client relationships, and aligned teaching or speaking opportunities, without pressure to sell or perform. Depending on your goals, we help you promote your book intentionally and strategically, in ways that are fully consistent with your values and in service of a more compassionate world.
No one is born knowing how to write a book. We make the process manageable and supportive for you, because we remember what it felt like to write that first book, standing at the edge between doubt and becoming. In addition to publishing services, we offer workshops for aspiring and emerging authors that emphasize clarity over hustle, discernment over speed, and alignment over visibility. Whether you are just beginning or refining an existing manuscript, we meet you where you are.
For those who want to create greater impact, we work with you to explore traditional media, social media, speaking engagements, workshops, retreats, and other avenues to “go big.” Gretchen, our chief creative, was privileged to work with Steve Harrison, who helped launch the Chicken Soup for the Soul empire, for three years in his Quantum Leap Platinum marketing program for authors, coaches, and consultants.
Elevating Marginalized Voices
As publishing has become increasingly monetized and commercialized, many important voices have been silenced—especially for people whose work is rooted in healing and care, spirituality, social justice, or lived experience rather than market trends. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to publish their work with dignity.
We believe individuals and organizations should be able to publish books without the cost of larger self-publishing companies and without the time delay of traditional publishers. We believe authors should retain the rights to creatively use their publications free from publisher constraints. Authors who work with Village of Care Press:
- retain full content control of their intellectual property
- own their royalties outright
- remain free to pursue creative and mission-aligned partnerships
Our role is not to extract value, but to steward it—so your work can enter the world intact, trustworthy, and true to its purpose.
Our Record
Small but mighty and gaining momentum! Since our founding in 2013, Village of Care Press has published
- 21 anthologies for Retreat House Spirituality Center in Dallas, with two more scheduled for 2026
- 8 solo-authored books
- 6 titles already committed for 2026
- And we’ve supported hundreds of clients who have self-published, submitted proposals directly to independent publishing houses or academic presses, or decided to pursue getting an agent
We’ve gained momentum since 2023, but we measure success not by volume but by depth and impact—the quiet ways our books initiate and change conversations, strengthen communities, and support people in their most human moments.
